LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE STORY…
It all started when…
…one of our child sponsors, TJ Burleson, got the CRAZY idea to run a 100-mile race (called an Ultra Marathon) and dedicate it to Children of the Father’s House. As a father, he has a huge heart education and asked if he could pay for all our new kids school fees if he raised enough money. People started pledging their support for him out of the clear blue sky- “I’ll sponsor you $1/mile…I’ll do better than that… I’ll go $2/mile…etc”
The outpouring sparked an idea…what if we did this on purpose?
Simultaneously another fire was being lit. Robynn Frey, also a child sponsor, felt the strong call on her heart to jump on an airplane for her first trip ever out of the country, and put her professional expertise in marriage and family therapy on the mission for CFH! Her timing was impeccable. CFH just launched its Family Preservation Project (FPP) and her skillset was a direct match! Robynn and her husband Bill decided to fundraise to pay for her trip, and lo and behold- she also wanted to organize a run! Robynn had the heart to do more than just pay for her own trip though. She has made it her mission to put every child in our new FPP program in their own bed! Hence- The Pajama 5k!
Standing in constant amazement at the providence of God, the CFH team realized that this is not a coincidence or accident.
The A-team decided to put 2 and 2 together, combine the efforts to harness and magnify the incredible heart behind each of these sponsors by embracing a movement where sponsors and advocates can own activities to get personally involved in their own way to impact the mission.
UUI is the space created by CFH to empower sponsors to truly engage and actively take an ownership role in making a tangible difference to our rapidly growing organization. UUI is the adventure arm of who we are in the US.
It’s the movers and the shakers. It’s the initiators. It’s the ones who say- I CAN DO SOMETHING, SO I’M GOING TO DO SOMETHING.
