Our Story

In early 2015, Laura Carr and her family, along with several other families, were planning to host a child from a Ugandan orphanage with the hopes of eventually adopting. During the visa process, the orphanage in Uganda was devastated by the loss of the founder, and subsequently their house, and any dream of bringing the kids to America was lost. Laura, her husband Seth, and another supporter, Rachel Cope, decided they were not ok with leaving kids homeless on the street of Kampala.

As the situation unfolded, the call on their hearts became more urgent, Laura and Seth closed their eyes, held their breath and emptied their savings in August 2015 to rent a house for children they had never met. Three months later, after many long conversations and prayerful consideration, Laura headed to Uganda alone, to work hand in hand with the remaining leadership to assemble the legal non-governmental organization (NGO) in Uganda.  What happened on that first trip can be described as nothing short of a miracle.  The friendships that were forged, the bonds that were created and hearts that were knit together, from distant, opposite sides of the globe are the bedrock that has founded Children of the Father's House back on solid ground.  Without a miracle, this organization would never exist.  Immediately upon return, with Seth's help and Rachel's support the U.S. non-profit was born to back the Ugandan operations, and we've been running as fast as we can just to keep up!  Laura changed careers three short months after the first trip to accommodate the twice yearly travel, and live in alignment with her newly solidified values.  Since that time, a band of volunteers has formed and the circle keeps getting wider.

The birth of CFH was a holy intersection between one family's effort to save ONE child and GOD'S PLAN to save MANY.  And this story is only getting started!  We're excited you're becoming part of it.  Please enjoy reading more below and reach out to engage the next chapter as it's being written!
